ANS1801 energy scavenging ULP transceiver
The Challenge
To develop a wireless transceiver enabling unique wireless solutions for ISM applications, featuring:
- low-power supply
- power consumption ~2mA
- single or no battery operation
- high flexibility
Result
An ultra low-power RF ISM transceiver in 0.25µm CMOS with a power consumption of 2.6mW for transmission and 1.2mW for reception.
The transceiver’s low operating voltage - as low as 0.9V - makes it possible to use a single alkaline or even a zinc-air battery. The combination of low voltage and low power consumption enables battery-less applications, e.g. solar cells or other energy scavenging methods.
A high flexibility is achieved by using a programmable power supply for the transmitter PA. Both short and mid range (~100m) communication are supported.
The receiver has a high sensitivity and low power consumption, which makes it suitable for watchdog applications.
