09/06/2011: Conference / Exhibition: Bits&Chips Hardware Conference 2011
AnSem's CEO Stefan Gogaert will give a presentation titled "Getting access to mixed-signal Asic from low volume on: the Turnkey to success".
Abstract of the presentation
While high volume applications can easily justify the development of custom IC's to hit their targets in terms of performance, cost, quality or form factor, there are a number of low to medium volume applications where the development of an ASIC is mandated for technical reasons but where the business case for an ASIC development is more difficult to justify.
Foundries are reluctant to invest their own design resources in lower volume business so having everything managed directly by a foundry is not possible, forcing customers to look for other business models. Worse, the lower volumes put additional pressure on return on investment constraints in terms of development cost and unit price for these applications. At the same time strong guarantees may be required for quality, security of supply and a number of other commercial concerns. Low to medium volume ASIC customers need a business model that fulfills both their technical and commercial needs while simplifying the operational aspects by having their supplier take on the supply chain management on their behalf.
During this presentation, some insights on Turnkey ASIC models provided by a fabless IC design house will be given, as well as which elements to pay attention to in order to select the right partners and solutions and how it can give the most effective solution to serve the customers' needs for low and medium volume mixed-signal ASICs.
AnSem will be present at the exhibition taking place at the same time as the conference.
We are looking forward to meeting you on our booth.
