AnSem successfully developed a low power 12b 2MSps SAR ADC ASIC

AnSem announces the successful realization of a silicon proven 12b 2MSps Successive Approximation Register Analog-to-Digital converter.

The advantages of SAR ADCs are low power consumption, high resolution and accuracy, and a small form factor. The operation of the SAR is based on charge redistribution. The reference voltages are generated in the ADC itself and do not require any external decoupling. The effective number of bits is 11.5.

AnSem succeeded to bring the power consumption of the full
12b SAR ADC (including reference generation) running at 2MSps down to 5mW. The design is done in TSMC 0.18µm technology.

Measurement results confirmed the targeted design performance.
